Mido

The Mido brand was founded in 1918 by Georges Schaeren and quickly became renowned for its technical innovations and timeless design. Its name comes from the Spanish phrase “Yo mido,” meaning “I measure,” which reflects its emphasis on precision. In the 1930s, Mido introduced one of the first anti-magnetic self-winding watches that were also water-resistant. This combination of technologies was among the most pioneering in the history of watchmaking. Mido has continued to innovate, focusing on the durability and reliability of its watches. Its modern collections are often inspired by architecture—such as Big Ben or the Colosseum—blending technology with artistic design. The brand specializes primarily in mechanical movements, catering to traditional watch enthusiasts. Since 2019, Mido has also been an official partner of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, where its watches are put to the test under extreme conditions.
