A robot that is just entering the world
Robot is a Czech brand that draws inspiration from the word “Robot” itself, first used by Karel Čapek in 1920. As a proudly Czech brand, the name was chosen to reflect its heritage, but until now, the brand name itself had never been used as inspiration for the design of a specific model. The watch’s design combines this cultural legacy with modern watchmaking aesthetics and Swiss technical precision. The result is a watch that embodies a story, symbolism, creativity, and innovation.

Watches with Faces
The Robotic One Silver watch is a striking example of how design can tell a story. The 43.2 mm case is asymmetrical, and its shape resembles a robot’s head. The sub-dials function as “eyes,” while the small details and hour markers complete the watch’s “face.” The “head” is just under 15 mm tall, and despite its short lug-to-lug length, the watch rightfully belongs in the heavyweight category.
The vertically brushed silver dial and raised hands with Super-LumiNova luminescent filling not only give the watch a modern look but also ensure excellent readability in all lighting conditions.
It’s precisely this uniquely designed case that makes the watch fit most wrists despite its size—and it works incredibly well!
A Celestial Connection
In this case, however, we cannot attribute the credit solely to Czech craftsmanship. Marcus Eilinger makes no secret of his roots and design style. He is a key piece of the puzzle and the reason why the Robotic One is based on principles that were popular with H. Moser & Cie, the brand for which Eilinger worked as a designer. The elegant combination of asymmetry, a minimalist dial, and subtle yet striking details gives the watches a sophisticated yet bold look that immediately reveals their origins and modern philosophy.

The Robotic One doesn’t have the same case shape as the Streamliner, but its organic and fluid design language is evident here as well—for example, in the shape of the bracelet and the smooth transitions between surfaces. Considering that coming up with something truly original—whether in the world of watches or anywhere else—is no easy task, I think this concept is a resounding success.
Czech head, Swiss heart
Hidden beneath the aesthetically striking case is a Swiss R11242 automatic movement, which offers a power reserve of up to 55 hours and an accuracy of -10/+20 seconds per day. In addition to accurate timekeeping, the watch features a chronograph and a date window at the 6 o’clock position. I personally always appreciate that, especially on chronographs, where it’s not all that common. For a moment, I even wondered if it was a good choice, but the idea of three identical dials would make this robot’s head look like it had three eyes. And that probably wouldn’t be the right solution.
You can admire this beautifully decorated timepiece through its glass case back—and I can’t even imagine it any other way. The watch literally begs you to admire its blued screws, skeletonized rotors, and all its technical details. In short, it’s no Bender, but a 21st-century timepiece.
The Robotic One features two different button styles—a classic “pump” button for start/stop and an elongated button for resetting the chronograph. This isn’t just functional; it also gives the watch a slightly playful and unusual character that’s typical of the brand’s spirit. The main crown features a solid design that ensures secure and easy handling, so you don’t have to worry about it slipping out of your hand.
The sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial from scratches, and the 10 ATM water resistance allows for worry-free wear while swimming or playing sports. Honestly, I can’t really imagine swimming with a watch, and they’re not designed for deep-sea diving either—though they’d certainly sink to the bottom 😉.
Playful details that will delight you
The “integrated” steel band features the SwapEasy quick-change strap system, which allows you to easily change the style without tools, giving the watch even greater flexibility and comfort. This is similar to systems offered by Formex or Garmin, for example.
You don’t have to worry about adjustments either—the PrecisionFit micro-adjustment mechanism is hidden in the clasp, and you won’t even notice it unless you need it. Just like the case, the bracelet is made of the more durable 904L alloy, which you may recognize from Ball, Fortis, or Rolex.
It’s clear that Robot puts watch enthusiasts first and uses small details that make our lives easier and leave no room for complaining about complexity.
Why Robotic One Is Worth It
Robot really loves chronographs and isn’t afraid to use them even in its highest-priced models. The Robotic is clear proof of this—its comprehensive features, striking design, and premium materials push the boundaries, even if the price isn’t exactly affordable. If a classic three-hand version were to appear in the future, it would be a welcome variation that would allow the brand to appeal to a wider audience and offer something simpler for everyday wear.
However, the brand isn’t afraid to experiment, even if it means sacrificing price. Robot prides itself on the fact that its watches should have their own character, visual distinctiveness, and technical value—rather than simply conforming to market expectations. These watches aren’t for everyone—and it’s clear that those who are most likely to criticize the price or compare Robotic One to more mainstream brands will never buy them anyway. This approach reflects the brand’s philosophy: to offer original watches for people who are looking for something more than just the usual standards.
When we consider Marcus’s portfolio—he’s the one behind the design—it’s clear that he wouldn’t get involved in a project that didn’t make sense to him. His experience with premium brands is reflected in every detail of the watch. The collaboration, therefore, is not just a matter of a name or marketing; it is a guarantee of quality, design integrity, and a meaningful evolution of the brand.
